On the shores of Lac Clair, a new home carries forward the story of a former three-season cottage. For this couple approaching retirement, the project envisions a way of living for the years ahead, in close connection with nature. Preserving the existing trees was essential: the lake reveals itself between trunks and foliage, shifting with the light and the seasons. With its gabled volumes and soft tones, the house settles naturally into the landscape, allowing the shadows of the branches to bring its facades to life.
Energy-efficient and custom-designed, the house brings together everyday living spaces on a single level, allowing the couple to live there comfortably for years to come. The mezzanine provides a place for children and grandchildren, whose visits bring a different rhythm to the home. In the veranda, the days stretch from the first breath of spring to the last light of autumn. A home in which to watch the seasons pass, welcome family, and put down roots among the trees.
